Alberobello sounds like a forgotten spell from a bad fantasy novel. But it's real – and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, round stone houses with pointed hats, called "trulli," are stacked up like drunken dwarves on a mushroom trip.
These architectural curiosities were once built to be quickly dismantled during tax audits. Today, they serve as selfie backdrops for influencers viewing history through Instagram filters.
Every day, a mass migration of flip-flop-wearing people flows through the narrow streets. The trulli themselves? These days, they're more like souvenir stands with roofs. Kitsch sells better than culture.
Tip: Go early in the morning. When the trulli are still asleep and the madness is still slumbering.
