A short trip to shake your legs.
We start in neighboring Sciacca, a charming coastal town known for its thermal springs and colorful ceramic art. From here, a winding road leads up to Monte Kronio, also known as Monte San Calogero.

The climb is moderate, with an elevation gain of about 330 meters, and is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Sicilian coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
At the summit of Monte Kronio, the Basilica of San Calogero awaits, a significant religious landmark dedicated to the saint of the same name. Nearby is the Antiquarium, a small museum showcasing archaeological finds from the region. The surrounding area is part of a nature reserve known for its unique geothermal phenomena, including the "Stufe di San Calogero," natural steam caves with therapeutic properties.
As scenic as the route is, there is one drawback: In and around Sciacca, you'll often encounter dogs running loose. Many are harmless or keep their distance, but some strays may bark aggressively at cyclists and even chase them. This can be an unpleasant challenge, especially on climbs, where the pace is naturally slower. A watchful eye and, if necessary, dismounting in good time will help avoid dangerous situations.
